Dear Food Purveyor:

Thank you for your interest in the Marin County Farmers’ Market Association (MCFMA). We invite food professionals to apply and be a part of the Food Purveyor program of the MCMFA, a California non-profit mutual benefit corporation dedicated to promoting farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, gourmet foods and original arts and crafts in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area.

In accordance with the “producer to consumer” philosophy, a producer who, through the practice of the culinary arts, manufactures prepared foods and is involved in all aspect of production of his/her products may be eligible to sell under the Food Purveyor designation.  All interested food purveyors must first submit a complete application and receive approval/confirmation before attending a market.  Upon approval, all Food Purveyors must complete a three-week probationary period before continuing participation is approved. After the three-week period annual membership dues of $60 are required.

Participants in the MCFMA markets are required to be members of the Association. MCFMA is a true membership organization with 4 voting categories one of which is food purveyors. Food purveyors elect one food purveyor representative to the Board of Directors.

All products and displays are subject to periodic review. Your application and products will be reviewed annually according to the following criteria:

1) Taste

2) Uniqueness to current products offered

3) Quality of product

4) Presentation and packaging

5) Market relatedness

Imports or mass produced products are not accepted.  The purveyor must either self produce the food or be in complete control of all aspects of production.  MCMFA reserves the right to verify the information provided in an appropriate manner.  MCMFA must pre-approve any additional or new products prior to their offer to the public for sale at a farmers’ market.  Exclusives on any type of food product or category are not granted under any circumstances.

Please return the following forms to complete the annual application process:

1) Stall reservation renewal application and the enclosed hold harmless agreement on the     back of the application with your signature.

2) A copy of your current Food Industry Health Permit for the appropriate County of the     market  you wish to attend and/or your Food Processor’s Registration. Other applicable     licenses.

3) Proof of Workers’ Compensation Insurance.

4) Proof of your Product Liability Insurance.

5) Complete list of products with prices you wish to have approved for sale.

6) Samples of products you are requesting approval to sell (by appointment only).

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Tyler Thayer
